Trust but Check: Mutable Objects in Untrusted Cooperative Caches

چکیده
Cooperative caching is known to be an effective technique for improving the performance of large scale distributed storage systems [5, 6, 7, 11, 1]. Nevertheless, current cooperative caching techniques work only in environments when machines trust one other, a requirement that is likely to become more and more difficult to satisfy. We describe a novel technique for managing cooperative caches in an untrusted environment. Our principal innovation is a new way to update objects on pages in untrusted caches while guaranteeing page integrity.

Performance Study of Untrusted Relay Network Utilizing Cooperative Jammer
Abstract—In this paper, the problem of secure transmission in two-hop amplify-and-forward (AF) systems with an untrusted relay is investigated. To prevent the untrusted relay from intercepting the source message and to achieve positive secrecy rate, the destination-based cooperative jamming (DBCJ) technique is used. In this method the destination sends an intended jamming signal to the relay. T...
متن کاملTrust-Based Usage Control in Collaborative Environment
Most access control models have formal access control rules to govern the authorization of a request from a principal. In pervasive and collaborative environments, the behaviors of a principal are uncertain due to partial information. Moreover, the attributes of a principal, requested objects, and contexts of a request are mutable during the collaboration. A variety of such uncertainty and muta...
متن کاملExploiting Client Caches: An Approach to Building Large Web Caches
New demands brought by the continuing growth of the Internet will be met in part by more effective and comprehensive use of caching. This paper proposes to exploit client browser caches in cooperative proxy caching by constructing the client caches within each organization (e.g., corporate networks) as a large peer-to-peer client cache. Via trace-driven simulations we evaluate the potential per...
متن کاملHome Based Cooperative Web Caching
Web caches in a cooperative cache array must have a method to determine if another cache in the array has an object corresponding to a specific URL. This is achieved by a broadcast query in Internet Cache Protocol (ICP) based cache arrays. An alternative approach is taken in Cache Array Routing Protocol (CARP), where a particular URL can only be cached in a designated cache. Both approaches hav...
متن کاملA Cooperative Trust Bit-Map Routing Protocol Using the GA Algorithm for Reducing the Damages from the InTs in WANETs
The wireless ad hoc network (WANET) is a type of wireless network in which some nodes are decentralized as well as self-organized in a wireless local area network. In recent years, insider threats increasingly damage the works not only in computer information systems, but also many wireless communications systems e.g. WANETs. We must take into consideration that the majority of insider threats ...
